What is the ‘food system’, what do we want from it, but what are we actually getting? Clearly differentiating the societal goals of better health, cleaner environment and more vibrant enterprises (the ‘what we want’) from the food system ‘activities’ (the ‘what we do’) helps identify who has to do what to enhance the food system ‘outcomes’ related to these goals (the ‘what we get’). A ‘system approach’ of the ‘farm-to-fork’ concept will show how to navigate the inherent complexity of the system, highlighting who has to do what to enhance and better balance the food system outcomes. |
